Hi Annie,
Have you had any experience with Flor carpets? I like that they’re tiles not rugs and the fact that they use recycled materials. We’re thinking of using it for carpeting in our family room which gets much use… dog, cat, children, adults…
Peggy

Hi, Peggy. I’m a big fan of FLOR tiles, actually. Here’s a tip, though: the instructions tell you to adhere only the outer perimeter of squares to the floor. If you’re creating an area rug, though, rather than doing a wall-to-wall installation, I suggest using the sticky patches to adhere most or all of the tiles; in a well-trafficked area, they may kick up a bit.

It goes w/out saying that your floor should be squeaky clean and dry before sticking down any of the tiles, but I’ll say it anyway :)
Do order samples; it’s really hard to assess not only the colors, but the textures from online or catalog photographs.
I used Thick & Thin in Persimmon/Cherry for a wall-to-wall installation in part of our basement (the tumbling mat wasn’t part of my, ah, original concept for the room):
And a hip client used the Thick & Thin in Cocoa/Chocolate to create an area rug in his living room. Both of these projects were a good, what, three years ago, when color and pattern options were more limited:
Good luck, Peggy! I’d love to hear what colors/patterns you end up choosing.
