Etsy is cool for so many reasons. It’s not your average shopping site: it’s all kinds of stuff, and everything is handmade, either one-of-a-kind or sold in limited editions.
So for all of my friends and clients who want to buy art – who NEED art – but just don’t know where to go or think it’s prohibitively expensive, this is a great place to start.
Just for fun, let’s be crass. What’s the worst, most insulting, trashy question you could ask about a piece of art?
“Is it sofa size?”
That’s right. And yet, size does matter. It’s not difficult to find small things to hang. A black and white photograph, nicely matted and framed. A 6 x 6 handpainted tile. An English botanical print. The above gem of a print by Jess Gonacha. You get the idea.
But that gaping hole over the sofa. The yawning space over the master bed. The vast expanse over the fireplace. I mean, how many mirrors can you hang? (No more than one per room, and preferably only one per floor, but that’s another entry…)
My clients need larger. Good. Art. Here are some things I found interesting (and super affordable) on etsy.com.
