God bless Odegard. They are lending me the most beautiful rug for the Design House. Here it is (the red isn’t a border; it’s the rug underneath it):
Does it get more urbanly elegant than that? I was concerned about the lighter colors and foot traffic – it’s wool and silk – but the super cool showroom manager didn’t seem to think it would be a problem. (Worst case, she said their rugs clean really well.) If SHE’s not going to worry about it, I’m certainly not going to.
In not-nearly-as-exciting-but-potentially-even-more-important news, my mail carrier slipped my insurance rider through the slot today. (I’m really late with that.) So I can get that and my contractor’s and upholsterer’s and info turned in next week. So important, yet so…so…dry.
Ah yes, I forgot to mention, Dave Mitchell, contractor, and Roya Akbari, drapery-fabricator-slash-fabric-maven-in-general, ARE available and happy to work on the Design House. I’m so relieved. Common denominator: attention to detail. We met at the space on Thursday, and they were asking REALLY specific questions, which was fantastic. Dave even has some great ideas about creating a faux ceiling in the opening area:
Yikes, right? This is actually one corner of the Design Center‘s presentation room. It’s also the “entry” to the Design House, so it’s my domain. The “foyer” is the room beyond it (here’s another pic of that:)
So the deadline I managed to meet this week was for initial drawings and swatches. I’m meeting w/ Design Center folks on Tuesday to discuss the things I submitted.
This being my first show house and all, I think it will be really helpful.
