Formica, I’m rooting for you.
In the LA Times article, “Bad design trends we hope die in 2009,” there, plain as day, is this:
Please, in the kitchen, no more granite countertop. It came into vogue in the ’80s, and it makes a place look dated instantaneously. I am pushing for an orange Formica comeback….”
Here are more “Design Trends We Want To See Gone” from the LA Times. It’s a great compilation.
In sum, for 2009, think handmade, eco-friendly, honest materials, matte finishes (no more shiny “Hollywood glamour” or metallic wallpaper), and homey kitchens.
Thanks, client Miriam, for bringing this article to my attention. Picture credit is Glenn Koenig/ Los Angeles Times.
