Have you ever walked into a place and thought, “Wow. This place is much cooler than I am.” ?
Happens to me all the time.
Like recently, when my husband and I went to Busboys & Poets in Mount Vernon Square. It’s a D.C.-based restaurant/free trade shop mini-chain with a hip, loyal following. I’d been to the one on 14th Street, but this one was even more interesting.
The main room is a soaring, vertical space with a graceful spiral staircase.
They’ve done a beautiful job integrating the interior and exterior. It was a beautiful night when we were there.
This is right behind my chair. From left, the exterior sidewalk, track for window, river stone border, and banquette.
Busboys & Poets is named for American poet Langston Hughes, who worked as a busboy at the Wardman Park Marriott.
Tomorrow (or soon), more about the two artists featured in the Mt. Vernon location. I’m curious.
