…14-0848, Mimosa! (Thank goodness for that last part – “Mimosa” is so much catchier than “14-0848.”)

There are many color trend predictors out there, but Pantone really is the authority on this stuff. Here’s its reasoning in a nutshell:
Hmmm…follow politics much? Hope? Change? All it needs is a Yes It Can! and it’d be all set.
But who cares about pithy reasoning? I sure don’t. Look, if it were up to me, I’d paint the whole world yellow. So please don’t expect me to receive this news with anything less than unbridled elation.
According to Pantone’s spring fashion color report, bright off-colors and grey-tinged pastels also will be in vogue next season. Colors such as Fuschia Red, Salmon Rose, Lucite Green, Rose Dust…you can see the full group here. Unfortunately, I don’t care for most of those colors, so I’m going to pretend I didn’t see the report.

I hate January. And February, and, frankly, most of March. Cold, grey, rainy, sleety – I’m not at my sparkly best. So to my way of thinking, this “Mimosa,” this sunny, bright, vaguely-Conran’s-in-the-80s, unabashedly happy color is just fine.
It makes me feel, well, hopeful.
