Gentle Readers, I, like you, have had it. I am SO TIRED of this pandemic, not seeing my friends, not going to restaurants, and a million other things. But I’m also so, so tired of my house.
(I may have found my foyer wallpaper, though! I’m going to keep you in suspense, but remember my obsession with green? Uh huh. ANYway…)
The next frontier is my daughters’ bathroom. It’s a major project, so it won’t happen tomorrow — especially given the pandemic — but it can’t hurt to do a little imagining, can it?
See this tile? Most of the houses on the block have some version of this seashell tile. It runs all the way around the bathroom…
…and those little shells were STENCILED onto the outside of the clawfoot tub. Not by the previous owners, who are friends of ours, but by someone long ago. Very meticulously, I might add! But not exactly our style. So we let the girls choose the first color:

And right now it has a shower setup and a cute shower curtain and hanging lamp and rug and we’ve done the best we can.
What I’d really love — as would the primary users of this bathroom — is two sinks.
I actually like the idea of a stained wood vanity, but as you might guess, I’d also like some color ;)
This one made me want to build a whole bathroom around a watermelon-colored vanity, but I was vetoed:
You’re undoubtedly noticing the abundance of wallpaper, aren’t you, Gentle Readers? Alas, in a 110-year-old full bathroom that won’t have great ventilation even when renovated…I just can’t. Powder rooms, always. Full baths with steamy showers…think twice.
Someday, the pandemic will be over. Someday, life will return to quasi-normal. And someday, we’ll renovate our bathroom.
