I got so excited about the last art post that I simply had to tell you about a few more artists at the Torpedo Factory. (I hope you don’t mind.)
I love words in art. I don’t know why…a fascination with graphic design, perhaps, or just plain old love of language…in any event, these woodblock prints of Phyllis Cohen delighted me. Here’s “Flamingo.”
Ms. Cohen also creates pieces that don’t include words, such as “Tea House.”

And “Sheep in a Meadow.” (Btw, I’m seeing these described as “woodcuts” and as “woodblock prints,” so I’m not sure which is correct.)
I mentioned the landscape artist Marietje Chamberlain in the last post. Well, B.J. Anderson creates moody architectural landscapes that I thought were very interesting. She spends a lot of time in seaside towns, so they crop up a lot.
This painting is acrylic on canvas; it’s called, “Autumn Marsh.”

Ms. Anderson works in several media, but I especially like her etchings. Here’s an etching and watercolor called, “Out of Step.”

And this is “Window Blues,” a lithograph.

With your help, Gentle Readers, we shall win the war against blank walls! Onward!
