Just got back from a beautiful wedding in Santa Fe, and panic is officially beginning to set in. I’m past, “Will it get done?” and have moved on to, “Will people like it?”
Now hear this: anyone who visits the Design House and DOESN’T like the entry & foyer, please lie to me.
These are from last week; I’ll be checking out the wall-to-wall carpet installation today and am extremely nervous about it.
This is Roya Akbari installing the fabric. I’ve worked w/ her for years; she is an absolute perfectionist. She’s made drapes, Roman Shades, headboards for me…when I found out she could also upholster the walls, I was pretty darn psyched.
This is the entry w/ floor covering laid out. I know it doesn’t look like much, but when we install it and get a threshold on it, it will really help define this space. Hope the “elevator” is painted when I go in today, too.
From the Des. Center, I swing by the National Gallery to pick up some small pictures by John Gordy for the bookshelves (for which I JUST ordered frames last week…come on, USPS). When I stopped by before, I was in the car and realized that parking would be an issue. I told the nice parking guard that I had to run in JUST FOR A SECOND, and he asked, “Are you picking up teaching materials? Are you an educator?”
“Why yes, officer. As a matter of fact, I am.” Because I kind of am, if you think about it, right?
Anyway, after that, I’ll go up to Heineman Myers in Bethesda to look at frames w/ Zoe Myers. And it happens to be my birthday today – 26 already? Umm, ok… – so maybe I’ll squeeze in a hot fudge sundae somehow.
