Honestly, I thought I’d already posted this.
I have been using St. Thomas Creation’s Richmond Pedestal Lavatory – large and small models – for years. YEARS. But it wasn’t until I came across the sink in the fine print of Domino Magazine today that I realized that I had not, in fact, spread the gospel of the Richmond through bossy blog.
Gentle readers, I sincerely apologize.
The Richmond pedestal sink is nearly perfect. It’s clean-lined. It’s quasi-historic without nailing you to a specific time period. It’s elegant. And it looks great with a variety of 8″ widespread faucets. One of my favorites is Grohe’s Seabury faucet in polished chrome with cross handles, which I’ve used twice with this sink:
There is, however, one drawback to the Richmond line. If you’re renovating your entire bathroom, your sink and toilet – pardon me, that’s “water closet” – should be from the same manufacturer so the whites match. (Not everyone would notice this, but it’s the kind of thing that keeps me up at night.)
And the Richmond toilet – I mean, “water closet” – leaves a lot to be desired. First, the top is kind of bumpy, making it a poor surface for placing anything. Second – and far more important – it doesn’t work so well. We had to have ours fixed twice within a year. That’s pretty lame.
Maybe, St. Thomas Creations, you’ll take another look at the WC’s innards so it doesn’t mar the reputation of the entire Richmond line?
Yes, and maybe Santa will come early this year. Well, in any event, enjoy the sink. (I mean “lavatory.”)
