I’ve long maintained that anything can look good in the right context. Naturally, there are exceptions…it’s tough to argue for decoupage under any circumstances. Unless it’s a vase your kid made. But even then.
This charming DC row house had an identity crisis. It thought it was in Key West, the poor thing.
After a few quality moments with the atlas, my delightful clients and I gently steered the house toward an elegant color palette more appropriate to the DC neighborhood:
Aaaaaahh. It was the clients’ excellent suggestion to pull in colors from the flagstone walk; thus the greyish blue. The beige trim is more sophisticated and interesting than off-white, and the orange door looks
great next to the adjacent brick building. It also gives the color scheme a little zing.
The Benjamin Moore colors are Polaris Blue 1649, Shaker Beige HC-45, and Fireball Orange 2170-10.
Much better, don’t you agree? I’m sure it was the paint that made the leaves grow, the rain clear and the sun come up, too.
