Oh, Gentle Readers! Such exciting news!
Annie Elliott Design’s TikTok videos have been nominated for a Webby Award! There were more than 14,000 submissions across all Webby categories, and ours was one of 5 nominated in “Social – How-To, Explainer, and DIY.”
The other 4 nominees in our category are Levi’s, Etsy, Variety Magazine, and Southern Living Magazine. I think it’s safe to say that we’re the underdog ;)
But fresh off the NCAA championships, I ask you: who doesn’t love an underdog?! I know I do!!
Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet.
The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), which nominates and selects The Webby Award winners, is comprised of Internet industry experts, including such fascinating, awesome people as Questlove, Tan France, Werner Vogels (CTO, Amazon), Roxanne Gay, Quinta Brunson, Reshma Saujani (Founder, Girls Who Code), LeVar Burton, Takashi Murakami, and Samantha Bee.

Two years ago, the amazing social media agency Kylee Social suggested that I might try my hand at TikTok.
After I caught my breath from laughing so hard, they looked at me and said, “No. Really.” So off we went, determined to figure out what TikTok users might want from an interior designer.
Turns out: real stuff. Talking about my kitchen backsplash (I know – what?!) and moving our daughter Georgie into her college dorm were some of the first videos to go viral. After that, “shop with me” videos at big-box stores such as Home Goods and Target became shockingly popular.
The Washington Post even did a story about it.
So we submitted the TikTok campaign to the Webbys, and here we are.
