Chevy Chase, DC: An ideal teenage hangout
This family includes two teenage boys, and one of our goals for this interior design project in Chevy Chase, DC was to create spaces where they and their friends would gather. To that end, AED created two teenager-friendly large hangout rooms in the basement. The media room is papered in striped string wallcovering, and includes bookcases, a sectional, large-screen TV, and pub tables. The separate game room houses a pool table, board game area, and wall-mounted Scrabble board, with plenty of room for teenagers to gather and hang out. The orange tiger-patterned wallpaper was approved by the family’s adults, teenagers, and cats.
The living room on the main floor is more suited to adults, but the kids and pets are welcome! A light rug ensures that the navy blue walls don’t make the room too dark, while the orange sofa packs a punch and stands up to the dramatic black and white drapes.
For this Chevy Chase home, Annie Elliott Design used products from Clarence House, Phillip Jeffries, China Seas, Century Furniture, and Visual Comfort, among other resources.
